Bangladesh National Election and Referendum on February 12, 2026: A Milestone in the Country’s Politics

ঢাকা, ১২ ডিসেম্বর ২০২৫: বাংলাদেশের নির্বাচন কমিশন ঘোষণা করেছে যে আগামী ১২ ফেব্রুয়ারি ২০২৬ তারিখে হবে ত্রয়োদশ জাতীয় সংসদ নির্বাচন এবং একই দিনে গণভোট (Referendum) অনুষ্ঠিত হবে। এই নির্বাচনের মাধ্যমে দেশের রাজনৈতিক পরিস্থিতি নতুন একটা অধ্যায়ে যাবে বলে রাজনৈতিক বিশ্লেষকরা মনে করছেন। 

নির্বাচন কমিশনার এ এম এম নাসির উদ্দিন বৃহস্পতিবার সন্ধ্যায় টেলিভিশন ও বেতারের মাধ্যমে জনগণকে তথ্য প্রদান করে বলেন, এটি বাংলাদেশের রাজনীতিতে একটি বিশিষ্ট মুহূর্ত, যেখানে সাধারণ ভোটাররা তাদের ভোটের মাধ্যমে দেশের ভবিষ্যৎ সরকার নির্ধারণ করবে। 

ইসি জানায়, ভোটগ্রহণ সকাল ৭:৩০টা থেকে বিকাল ৪:৩০টা পর্যন্ত চলবে। ভোটের প্রস্তুতি হিসেবে মনোনয়নপত্র ২৯ ডিসেম্বর, ২০২৫ পর্যন্ত জমা দিতে হবে এবং মনোনয়নপত্র যাচাই হবে ৩০ ডিসেম্বর থেকে ৪ জানুয়ারি, ২০২৬ পর্যন্ত। আবেদন প্রত্যাহারের শেষ তারিখ ২০ জানুয়ারি, ২০২৬। ইসি চূড়ান্ত প্রার্থী তালিকা ও প্রতীক বরাদ্দ করবে ২১ জানুয়ারি, ২০২৬। 

এই নির্বাচনের পাশাপাশি অনুষ্ঠিতব্য গণভোটে জনগণ “জুলাই জাতীয় চার্টার সংস্কারের ইস্যু” নিয়ে মতামত জানাবে, যা দেশের সংবিধান সম্পর্কিত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ পরিবর্তন হতে পারে। 

রাজনৈতিক দলগুলো ইতোমধ্যেই নির্বাচনের পরিকল্পনা শুরু করেছে। কিছু দল এ সময়কে রাজনৈতিক পুনর্গঠনের সুযোগ হিসেবে দেখছে, আবার কিছু দলের বক্তব্য, নির্বাচন হতে অধিক সক্ষম ও নিরপেক্ষ নির্বাচন পরিবেশ প্রয়োজন। 

এই নির্বাচনটি বাংলাদেশের রাজনৈতিক ইতিহাসে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ বলে গণ্য হচ্ছে, বিশেষ করে গত বছর ঘটে যাওয়া রাজনৈতিক ঘটনাবলীর পর দেশের জনগণ এই ভোটের মাধ্যমে তাদের শক্তি ও মতামত প্রমাণ করার সুযোগ পাবে।

 Dhaka, December 12, 2025: The Election Commission of Bangladesh has officially announced that the 13th National Parliamentary Election will be held on February 12, 2026. On the same day, a national referendum will also take place. Political analysts believe this election will open a new chapter in the country’s political landscape.

Commissioner A.M.M. Nasir Uddin, in an address broadcasted on television and radio on Thursday evening, stated that this is a significant moment for Bangladesh’s politics, where citizens will determine the future government through their votes.

According to the Election Commission, voting will be held from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Nomination papers must be submitted by December 29, 2025, and the scrutiny process will take place from December 30 to January 4, 2026. The last date for withdrawal of candidature is January 20, 2026, while the final candidate list and symbol allocation will be announced on January 21, 2026.

Alongside the national election, the referendum will allow citizens to give their opinion on the proposed reforms to the July National Charter, which may bring significant constitutional changes.

Political parties have already begun planning for the election. Some parties view this period as an opportunity for political restructuring, while others emphasize the need for a more neutral and fair election environment.
